Canada & Montana
I flew to Vancouver and met my parents for a road trip across British Columbia to Banff, Alberta, where I met a friend to begin the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. Smoke and forest fires detracted greatly from this section of the route and forced us to detour off the route throughout Montana. The clear days were lovely and it was fascinating to bike along massive logging and mining operations. A broken derailleur hanger forced me to hitch from Butte to Idaho Falls, where a kind family hosted me while I procured a replacement.
