meowzers

Meowzers is a fully rigid mountain bicycle. It is an adventure bike - it is meant to carry equipment for bikepacking off-road for months at a time. It is custom-built to my body's geometry and the handling characteristics unique to bikepacking. The bike is a steel 29er, giving it low rolling resistance, high strength, and a very comfortable ride. Meowzers also features a heat-tinted stainless steel head badge. It includes many braze-ons (steel parts brazed to the frame) for extra bottle cages on the fork and underneath the downtube, front and rear racks, and more - Meowzers has 43 braze-ons!

All of the manufacturing of the frame and fork as well as component selection, assembly of the bicycle, and building of the wheels were done by hand. Processes included tube bending, mitering on a manual mill, TIG welding, cold-setting, and brass and silver brazing. Tight tolerances are important in bicycle frames - the frame is planar within .5mm and the head tube is parallel to the seat tube within .1mm. I also needed to CNC mill a jig for mounting the disc brake mount onto my fork and a press for forming the head tube badge around the head tube.

So far, Meowzers has been on two tours: one in Northern Californian mountains and one in Southern California desert.
