Aperture

Aperture is a medium-format pinhole camera. It features a slide shutter, rotational iris for different pinhole "lenses," and a manual film advancement system. It is made of black-anodized aluminum, stainless steel, and brass. Most parts were machined on a 3-axis CNC mill and the remaining components on a manual lathe. Aperture contains 25 custom-made parts and was conceived, designed, manufactured, and assembled in five weeks.

These three photographs were taken with Aperture. The middle one used a slit "lens," and the left and right used a standard pinhole.

Aperture was an individual project.
