Alaska
I began my journey at a friend's house in Nikiski, AK, on the coast of the Kenai Peninsula. Two friends and I did day rides along the beach, then an overnight on the Resurrection Pass Trail. I departed from Anchorage solo and headed to Denali National Park. Its Park Road is 93 miles of dirt and closed to cars. From there I took the Denali Highway, a ~120 mile dirt road, then the Richardson Highway to Delta Junction. Unfortunately, from there I needed to fly home due to unexpected circumstances, so I hitched a ride to Fairbanks.
The surreal amount of daylight, vast tundra, and weather alternating between completely clear and light rain for days on end made Alaska one of the most unique places on my journey. The remoteness made for a tough but unbelievably rewarding introduction to expedition bikepacking.
