utah
Utah held by far the most remote land on my journey. It was also the most technical mountain biking I had yet to encounter on a fully-loaded bike. Many miles were spent pushing and carrying the bike through unearthly landscapes. On the majority of the 20 days I was in Utah, I saw no more than a handful of other humans. 16 of those days were in Bears Ears National Monument and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, the epicenters of a public lands crisis.
