225 miles of Arizona Trail singletrack, from the Utah border to just south of Flagstaff, made for the best mountain biking of the trip. The Grand Canyon is a place of unparalleled beauty and the rim-to-rim hike lends a deep understanding of just how massive it is. Detouring the Arizona Trail to Phoenix allowed me to visit friends, but from there the way west was mostly on pavement. My final leg was on the Bradshaw Trail, a sandy 4WD road where I was very thankful for my 3" wide tires. I ended my journey at my grandparents' house in Palm Springs, just in time for Thanksgiving.
